Each Year we provide our readers with an overview of this years products produced by Summit Stands. They are one of the leading manufactures of treestands and the one we currently use for all of our climbing treestands. We currently own 3, and everyone we hunt with owns 1 as well. So here is this years overview of their 2013 climbing treestand line. Many of the models are returning from last year, and there are a couple new ones this year as well.
Below are the 12 climbing treestands available from Summit this year in no particular order.
The OpenShot SD is still available with a compact foam seat set inside the seat frame. The seat easily folds up when you want to stand up against the tree. The padded seat becomes a cushion for your back, allowing you to stand more comfortably for longer periods of time, and with plenty of room. This climbing tree stand also features an open front that affords excellent all-direction visibility, making the OpenShot treestand perfect for deep-woods bow hunting. The OpenShot is also our lightest tree stand yet. The whole thing weighs only 15 lbs, yet still has an unbelievable 300 lbs weight limit. Even if your hunt takes you deep into the woods or covers a wide terrain, you can carry this climber tree stand farther without straining. It has all of the features you need in a hunting tree stand, but in a convenient size that isn't a hassle to tote with you.
The Summit 180 Max SD Climbing Tree Stand is everything you expect from a Summit sit-and-stand climbing tree stand plus a 2" wider, extended-top frame, a 350 lbs weight limit, huge 6 channel aluminum platform and an adjustable-height, reversible surround seat that allows you to sit facing the tree.
The Summit Cobra SD Treestand is an open front climbing stand that takes on a revolutionary look. Weighing in at 18lbs the Summit Cobra SD is suited for ever bow hunter as the open front allows one to remain sitting while shooting. This stand is compact and portable and will serve perfectly as the bow hunting stand of choice for years to come.

14 lbs is light. Especially for a full sized platform and seat climber. The Specialist utilizes the same new construction techniques and materials as the Viper Elite to cut the weight. This stand is deceptively light. A fully open seat climber gives you an unobstructed field of view.
The Viper Classic is the perfect combination of rugged steel construction and quality Summit engineering - in a value priced climbing treestand. Made utilizing the same cable system as our tried and true Viper SD, the Classic is quick and quiet to setup. A large 5 channel platform gives you plenty of room while the full backed padded seat keeps you comfortable for those all day hunts. Over ten years ago they designed and developed a "stretched" Viper top with a 350lbs weight limit for the bigger hunter or for anyone looking for a little extra room. We called this stand the Summit Goliath and since it's introduction it has been a favorite among hunters. The wider top gives you more room to move around and is a little more comfortable to sit in too. The Summit Goliath SD shares the same platform size with the Viper so you know you are getting plenty of leg room.
Well that is Summits 2013 offering for climbing treestands. We currently own a Viper SS, a much older version of the Cobra, and a Razor and like all three of them. Each has it's own use for us depending on where we are hunting and with what. We highly recommend Summit's climbing treestands, they are very well made, long lasting, comfortable, safe, and user friendly.
Do you own a Summit? What model? What do you think about it?
