Fuse Plus You Camo Phone Case Review

Recently, Fuse Plus You was nice enough to send us one of their Realtree iPhone 5 camo phone cases.  First of all, any phone case that is camo is cool in our book.  So, once we received it, I put it on my phone for the past week or so to see just what I thought about it so I could give all our readers an honest assessment.

The first thing to know about this particular case is that it doesn’t cover the front of your phone in anyway, it just protects the back.  This was the style case we choose to review based on what we like and the phones we have.  Fuse Plus You has a number of different style cases that fit all different phones.  They also offer a number of different camo patterns depending on what your preference is.

After putting the case on my iPhone 5, I found that this case some great things about it and a few things I am not sure about, but we found it to be slim, doesn’t seem to scratch real easy, doesn’t pop off like some cases do, and looks great at an affordable price.

Pros:

The pros are a lot of the things that most people look for in a phone case, it’s slim and very light weight.  It allows your phone to slide in and out of your pocket without resistance.  It looks great and doesn’t seem to scratch very easy.  Stays in place on the phone and doesn’t pop off every time you pull your phone out of your pocket or set it down on table.  great price at just $24.99.
Cons:

The cons are more depend on what you are looking for in a case.  Some of the things that normally draw us towards a case is what this case lacks.  Such as, protection should you drop your phone. Yes, it will protect the back, but it offers no real cushioning.  However, this is a trade off for having a nice sleek slim case.  It also lacks a screen protector, so you would need to purchase a screen protector separately should you want to protect your screen.

Final Thoughts:

After a week or so of use, we really like this case based on it is nice looking, slim, sleek and slides in and out of your pocket very nicely.  The cons that we found about this case are trade offs, many cases that offer cushioning and a front screen protector all within the case make your phone much larger, bulkier, and also tend to be very price.  Whereas, the Fuse iPhone 5 case is slim, sleek, and priced great at $24.99.  For many people this would be a great case, and if you are like some that are very hard on cases Fuse offers a number of other cases that offer some of those other features the case we reviewed lacks.   They also offer it camo patterns for both men and women.  We think this is a good phone case for what it is and should you be looking for a different style Fuse has something  to fit most everyone’s needs.

Recently, it was brought to our attention that there is a bill to go before the Maryland Senate on March 5th, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. that proposes an increase in the safety zone to 500 yards around school property for any kind of hunting with a firearm or bow.  Here is the link to the proposed bill: Maryland Bill SB0754

I personally understand the need for safety around schools and I remember a few years back when someone shot a hole in a wall at a daycare (or school I cannot remember exactly) while hunting.  That was when safety zone requirements changed and became larger for hunting with a firearm.  Here we are again asking to make it 500 yards for a firearm or bow.  We hunt with bow, but still understand the importance of the 500 yard safety zone for a firearm, because if you are hunting with a shotgun, rifle, or muzzleloader, a bullet could be harmful around a school at that distance.  However,  for all of us bow hunters the probability that an arrow could make it 500 yards is not realistic or probably possible.  So I guess you could say we don’t agree or disagree with this bill.  It seems a little harsh to roll  hunting with any implementation into one bill, but we also understand and support the need for school safety.  The unfortunate fact is that this bill could cost a lot of people their favorite bow hunting spots, considering many bow hunters hunt in small areas that are in many cases close to homes, businesses,  and probably schools.  Granted this bill will not affect everyone, as I am sure there are more people that do not hunt near schools in Maryland than there are that do.  However, this bill was passed along to us and we wanted to pass it along to you so that you knew what was going on and what changes could be coming next year.  If you have an opinion about the bill, you can write or speak with your local senator about your feelings on the bill before it goes to the Senate on March 5th.

Post Season

Post season scouting has to be one of the best times to go out and find sign from this past season.  Between the woods being open and being able to see deer, you can also find bedding areas easier, and you can see all the rubs and scrapes from the previous rut.  I also use this time to find where other people have been hunting as you can find the trees that have been climbed, as well as pick out trees that I will plan to hunt out next season.

Of course, this is also a great time to start heading out looking for sheds. It is a little early as I have seen several deer this past week whom still have their antlers, but they could also be shedding any day as I know I have seen a few smaller deer that have already shed while driving.  It really is a great time of year to be out in the woods learning.  That being said, that is what we do every time we head into the woods, is learn and attempt to gain a better understanding to give us the upper hand each time we go out in pursuit of a harvest.

I will spend a decent amount of time in the woods over the next two months scouting and shed hunting, and you know unless you have a lot of land, shed hunting is like looking for needle in a hay stack.  But, when you do find a shed it makes it all the more worth it, and when you find a big shed it’s something you don’t forget.

I would say in another two weeks pretty much all if not all antlers should be shed, so soon it will be time to hit the woods!

I also am in the process of packing all my hunting gear up for the year this weekend.  It’s always a good time to look at what you have and make a list of what you need.  Also a great time to check the condition of your gear, many times camo can get rips, or broken zippers, holes in pockets etc. and now is a great time to figure out what you need over the off season.  Something, make sure you wash all your clothing in a scent free soap before storage, otherwise left over dirt or anything really could mold or spread a smell you may not get out next season leaving those things unusable.

I also always check out my treestand, ropes, safety harness, and any calls just to make sure I don’t need to replace anything and if I do I go ahead and start looking now.

Also remember, starting this month up until about June is a great time to find clearance camo and other hunting at a lot of the big sporting good retailers, they have it and hunting season is over so they are looking to liquidate their inventory, so some great deals can be had. Starting in June, prices start to bounce back to full price as hunting season nears and retailer look to once again take advantage of those  whom need something.

So I guess my point behind this post is, just because it’s the off season and we all cannot be out enjoying the outdoors as we have been for the past 5 months, doesn’t mean we have to forget about our passion.  Even better we can use this time to get read for the upcoming season when we will hopefully get that shot at a trophy!
